Episode 89: Riu Baja California

Last month, I stayed at the Riu Baja California in Cabo San Lucas for 6 days, and this time I travelled for vacation and not as a travel agent.

In this episode, I will be going through the experience I had so that you can have the information you may need to decide if you want to stay at this resort on your vacation.

Let’s go:

[01:40] Who is it for?

The resort is adults-only (18+).

I would say it’s for singles, couples, and groups looking to turn up and have a great time.

The price point for this resort is also really good, if that’s something you’re considering.

[02:17] The vibe.

If you’re looking for a resort with a young, fun, chilled, and exciting vibe, and you want to have a good time, this is the place to be.

I’ve stayed at other Riu resorts, and this one is totally different in terms of its décor, rooms, and the Riu pool party that happened next door.

[03:46] The rooms.

Compared to other Riu resorts, these rooms feel completely different.

The furnishings are more modern, and the wood used is a light brown, compared to the white or dark oak that you would typically find at Riu resorts.

There’s no privacy between the bathroom and other areas of the room, so if you’re traveling with someone who you don’t want to see naked, this is probably something to think about.

There is 24-hour room service, so I could get my fries at 3AM.

There’s also a minifridge, an alcohol dispenser, two double beds, a pull-out sofa, a small dining area, and a balcony with a view over El Arco.

[07:02] The property.

If you’re arriving at the airport, it will take you about 30 minutes to get to the resort.

There’s a Walmart just 5 minutes from the resort, which we used because one of the people in our group had her luggage delayed.

If you’re looking for a good view of El Arco, you can see it from anywhere on the resort.

Staying at the Riu Baja California, you have access to the Riu Santa Fe, where you can go to the water park, sports bar, pool parties, and night club, and the Riu Palace Cabo San Lucas.

[10:15] The pool parties.

The pool parties are at the Riu Santa Fe, which is next door to the Riu Baja California.

If you stay for one week, you will get to experience four different themed parties: The jungle party, the pink party, the white party, and the neon party.

Consider your arrival and departure times when planning your stay if you want to experience all of the themed parties. We stayed for six days, but because of our arrival and departure times, we didn’t get to experience the neon party.

[12:00] The dining.

This resort serves Jack Daniels, which is all I need to know.

But, if you’re looking for other premium alcohols, you’ll find them here too.

There’s a huge buffet for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, there’s a steakhouse, an Italian restaurant, Indian cuisine, an a la cart American cuisine restaurant, and a lobby bar.

The Indian restaurant was one of our favourites, and if you want to have a great culinary experience, you need to get yourself there at least once.

The lobby bar is in the perfect place for if you want to catch the sunset behind El Arco while sipping on your drink in a comfortable seat.

[15:34] Would I go back?

This resort is EJTheTravelDiva Certified.

I would not hesitate to book another stay here or book stays here for my clients.

This resort, as well as Cabo San Lucas in general, are amazing choices for your vacation.

Hopefully, this episode has given you the information you need to click “purchase” on your next flight ticket and head over to Cabo San Lucas and spend some time at the Riu Baja California Resort.

This is good to know about RIU Baja California. This trip sounds like something I need to put on my list of places to stay, see, and do!! Love the fact the result is Adults only!!
